There is nothing ordinary about Boulder.

First founded in 1859, the town of Boulder has grown to a population of just over 290,000 residents. Boulder has small-town Colorado charm and a culturally diverse vibe. Residents are environmentally, socially, physically, and intellectually active.

This is why it is no surprise that in 2008 AARP Magazine ranked Boulder among the top ten healthiest places to live in the US. With 200 acres of open space, miles of trails, and close proximity to the Flat Irons, Boulder has many opportunities for outdoor activities.
Moreover, one of the reasons the residents of Boulder are so healthy, is because smoking in restaurants and taverns is not allowed.

Activities:
From avant-garde theaters and Persian tea houses to local farmers markets and historical museums, the residents of Boulder lead a culturally-enriched and diverse life.

Anything in Boulder is literally a hop, skip, or jump away. The city's public transit system features buses called HOP, SKIP, JUMP, LEAP, and BOUND. Boulder is connected by over over 40 bus stops. This program makes The Pearl Street Mall, Crossroads Mall, University of Colorado campus and nearby city of Denver all easily accessible via public transportation.

University of Colorado:
Boulder is home to The University of Colorado, an outstanding university with excellent programs in athletics, teaching, law, and medicine. Located less than 30 minutes from downtown Denver, Boulder is an appealing place to many students because of its access to nightlife, sporting events, and everything the capital city has to offer.

Environmental Activism:
In 1967, Boulder became the first city in the US to tax citizens for the purpose of protecting and acquiring open space. Today, the Boulder Open Space Program is dedicated to protecting 38,000 acres of mountain parks and open space. Do not be surprised to see a wild deer grazing in your front yard!
Environmental activism is particularly important to the citizens of Boulder. The Green Points program encourages home owners to use environmentally friendly and cost effective means of construction.
